Facility Leader: Jeff Crawford, Warden
Jeff Crawford has dedicated 30 years to the corrections profession. Jeff has served for the past 13 years as warden at the Farmville Detention Center, where his leadership has been instrumental in the facility’s success. Jeff began his career in corrections in 1995 as a detention officer, and over the course of his career he has excelled in a variety of roles, including Sergeant, Physical Security Officer, Special Operations Team Leader, Clemency and Parole Analyst, and Discipline and Adjustment Board Recorder. His experience extends to working as a Standards and Accreditation Specialist with the American Correctional Association (ACA), a Program Analyst with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) in Quality Assurance, Chief of Security, and Warden.
Jeff is a highly credentialed professional, holding certifications as a three-time Certified Jail Manager (CJM) with the American Jail Association (AJA), and serving as the immediate past-president of the Compliance and Accreditation Managers Association (CAMA). He is also the chairman of the Board of the National Association of Wardens and Superintendents (NAAWS) and a three-time DOJ-certified Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) auditor for adult prisons and jails. In 2022, he was appointed to the Advisory Board of the National Institute of Corrections for the U.S. Department of Justice.
In addition to his extensive professional experience, Jeff holds an undergraduate degree in Information Technology, a Master’s degree in Theological Studies, and a Master of Divinity degree.
