John Gilley, Warden

Facility Leader: John Gilley, Warden

John Gilley was named warden at South Central Correctional Center (SCCC) in August 2026. Warden Gilley began his career with the Virgina Department of Corrections in 1999 as a correctional officer. In 2001, he transitioned to a career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Virginia. He went on to serve as a senior officer specialist, lieutenant, captain, emergency preparedness officer, complex captain, associate warden, deputy regional director, and warden. He retired from the Bureau of Prisons in 2026. Warden Gilley has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since 2020.

Community Activities

South Central Correctional Center supports several local organizations; High School Boys and Girls Soccer Coaches; Wayne County Chamber of Commerce; Clifton City Chamber of Commerce; Dixie Youth Baseball Board for Wayne County and coaching positions; Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squads; Family's First; Elders and Deacons of local churches.
