Graduation Scheduled for New Inmate Vocational Training Center Programs

CoreCivic | 12/4/17 12:00 AM

CoreCivic's Coffee Correctional Facility, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Corrections and Wiregrass Technical College, will hold its premier graduation ceremony for inmates participating in the facility's new welding and diesel maintenance programs. Members of the media are invited to attend.

The welding and diesel maintenance programs were an addition to both Coffee Correctional Facility and Wheeler Correctional Facility (Alamo, GA) with the opening of the new Inmate Vocational Training Centers earlier this year. The facility also provides training in masonry, carpentry, horticulture, office technology, and CDL training, as well as high school equivalency education and life skills programs.

WHAT: Welding and diesel maintenance programs graduation ceremony
WHEN: 9:30 am EST on Friday, December 8, 2017
WHERE: Coffee Correctional Facility at 1153 N. Liberty Street, Nicholls, Georgia, 31554

WHO: Georgia State Senator Tyler Harper, GDC Commissioner Greg Dozier and other department representatives, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College representatives, Coffee Correctional leadership and staff, local elected officials and community leaders. For security purposes, the event is not open to the general public.

WHY: Reentry is a core commitment for both CoreCivic and the Georgia Department of Corrections. Research shows that inmates who receive education while incarcerated are 43% less likely to return to prison.

RSVP: Please email Amanda Gilchrist at Amanda.Gilchrist@corecivic.com if you plan to attend.
