CoreCivic's Crowley County Correctional Facility in Olney Springs, Colorado, partners with WeBuild, a nonprofit dedicated to providing vocational training to incarcerated adults to give them a marketable trade to reduce recidivism. Residents involved in the WeBuild program at Crowley construct trusses, framing, cabinets and more for low-income housing in the community and other projects. Residents, who are compensated by WeBuild for their time and work, can also develop digital home design skills, learning to create blueprints for the homes to be built.
"It makes me feel amazing knowing that I am taking my time and actually putting it towards helping somebody out whether it's someone dealing with low-income situation housing or somebody who just wants a specialty house built," said Kenneth, a student-mentor and participant in the WeBuild program at Crowley.
