Women at CoreCivic's Fort Worth Transitional Center in Fort Worth, Texas, participated in an event that supports their reintegration journey. The facility partnered with local non-profit organization I Can Still Shine to host an uplifting reentry event focused on helping women restore their dignity, foster renewal and build their confidence.

I Can Still Shine is a faith-based program and supportive center for women and children in need of safety from domestic violence, drug use, or other unstable situations. The organization also helps women and children leave abusive homes and supports those going through drug or alcohol recovery programs.

During the event hosted at Fort Worth Transitional, women received professional haircuts, manicures, makeovers, clothing, and accessories. They also shared lunch together.

The women say the program was empowering and a meaningful reminder of their ability to rebuild their lives and move forward.

"I felt loved and cared for," said Eileen A., a resident at Fort Worth Transitional. "Actually, I felt like a queen for the few hours we were there."

In addition to providing support and reentry resources, the women participants shared their stories and bonded through each of their lived experiences.

"Hearing other women share their stories reminded me that I'm not alone and I can keep going," one participant shared.

CoreCivic is dedicated to fostering safe, supportive, compassionate environments, and offering effective reentry-focused services. Event organizers report that the impact was immediate and inspiring: The women left feeling valued, empowered, and motivated to continue building toward their future and making positive life changes.

"This event made me feel seen and supported," one participant shared. "I left believing I can really start over."
