Updates on COVID-19, Employees, and Hiring from CEO Damon Hininger

CoreCivic | 4/16/20 8:00 AM

CEO-1As COVID-19 continues to threaten our nation, more and more Americans are being affected. At this point, most of us either know someone who has become ill, or someone who is working on the frontlines. I am immensely proud of our own frontline heroes, and I wanted to share a few updates about the work they are doing to keep people safe and what we are doing as an organization to honor their service.

COVID-19 Update

At CoreCivic, we continue to do all we can to ensure that our staff and those entrusted to our care are safe and healthy. We have ramped up the purchase of personal protective equipment, including face masks, for facility staff and those in our care. Our team is adhering to CDC recommendations for cleaning and disinfection to prevent coronavirus. In coordination with our government partners, we temporarily suspended visitation at all CoreCivic facilities and we are screening everyone who enters a CoreCivic facility with a temperature check and questionnaire. We also worked with our government partners to waive medical co-pays at all CoreCivic facilities, and negotiated with phone vendors to provide free calls at most CoreCivic facilities so the individuals in our care can stay connected with family and friends.

Hero Bonus Program
Our frontline employees are the heart of our organization, which has become even more apparent during this challenging time. The employees who work at our facilities are heroes, both in our company and in our communities. That is why I was proud to announce a Hero Bonus of $500 to all of our active full and part-time facility employees. Beginning in July, employees will also receive bonus time off that can be used through the end of 2020. The Hero Bonus program is meant as a way to show our support to our employees and their families as we work through this crisis together.

Hiring Commitment
The economic impact of COVID-19 nationally cannot be understated. As businesses close their doors due to shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders, thousands of people have been furloughed or let go by their employers. To help alleviate that burden, CoreCivic has committed to hire at our 73 active locations across the United States. Available positions include correctional officers, counselors, teachers, nurses, as well as maintenance, food service, and administrative positions. We offer a full benefits package and comprehensive training to position all new employees for success.

Anyone interested in joining CoreCivic should visit www.Jobs.CoreCivic.com, or send an email to Careers@CoreCivic.com.

Once again, I want to say thank you to Team CoreCivic.  I've never been more proud to work with such an amazing group of people. Thank you for everything you do to help better the public good.

Sincerely,

Damon T. Hininger
