A Secure Civil Detention Facility Held to the Highest Standards
CoreCivic is working on an opportunity to serve and meet the needs of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at our Midwest Regional Reception Center (MRRC) in Leavenworth. As a long-standing member of the community, it’s important to us that the people of Leavenworth hear directly from us about the facility—what it will mean, what it won’t mean, and our commitment to continue listening.
Proven, Dependable Partner: CoreCivic has been a long-time partner in Leavenworth, going back almost 30 years. We couldn’t be prouder to be a valued part of this community.
Local Economic Benefits: MRRC serving as a partner to ICE will create about 300 new, good-paying jobs and generate $2 million in annual payments to the city that could be used for schools, infrastructure and other community priorities.
No releases into Leavenworth: No one in our care at the facility will be released directly into the Leavenworth community. In fact, any agreement with ICE will have a provision strictly prohibiting the release of detainees into the community.
Oversight and Accountability: Our facility will operate with strong oversight and accountability from our government partners, including regular audits and onsite monitors. Both our company and our government partners share a deep commitment to humane care.
Safety, Security and Quality: Our top priority is the safety of the people in our care, our staff and the community. In addition to our own high standards for quality, we are contractually required to uphold rigorous federal detention standards.
