Registered Nurse (RN)
La Palma Correctional Center, Eloy, Arizona, 1.5 Years

Kari Grubbs, RN, is the lead health services staff member in charge of coordinating La Palma Correctional Center’s response to COVID-19. From daily communication with the local health department, to keeping up with the rapidly changing knowledge of the virus, Grubbs has worked diligently to make certain the facility has been in compliance with standards set by CoreCivic, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the local health department, and the CDC. One of her duties at the height of the pandemic included coordinating the testing of nearly 1,200 detainees in less than five hours.

“I work closely with our physicians, the great team at La Palma and the public health department to ensure we are taking every precaution to minimize the effects this pandemic has on our residents and staff,” Grubbs explained. “As an infection control nurse, preventing the spread of disease is one of my primary duties and my area of expertise. My passion for nursing and work ethic keep me striving to be a nurse that my patients and coworkers can count on.”
