Every year, CoreCivic employees nationwide host and participate in school supply drives to equip local students with the tools they need for a successful year. CoreCivic facilities delivered these donations to schools throughout the summer months.
Here are some examples of how CoreCivic facilities participated in the back-to-school season this year:
In Eloy, Arizona, staff at Eloy Detention Center collected school supplies to help support a local elementary school.
In Florence, Arizona, staff and Central Arizona Florence Correctional Complex collected more than 1,500 pieces of school supplies to help support local students as they head back to school.
In Commerce City, Colorado, staff and residents at Commerce Transitional Center participated in a school supply drive, collecting more than 2,000 folders, notebooks, binders and more for local students.
In Englewood, Colorado, staff and residents at Arapahoe Community Treatment Center hosted a school supply drive to support a local elementary school.
In Longmont, Colorado, staff and residents at Longmont Community Treatment Center teamed up to collect and donate school supplies for local students. The team that collected the most was awarded a bowling outing, second and third place received a pizza party.
In Lecanto, Florida, Citrus County Detention Facility held a fundraiser collecting donations for the Citrus Education Foundation, as well as hosting an employee school supply drive.
In Lake City, Florida, staff at Lake City Correctional Facility donated 126 backpacks filled with school supplies to local elementary schools.
In Millen, Georgia, staff at Jenkins Correctional Center put together book bags for other staff who have kids in school and distributed school supplies to four local schools.
In Nicholls, Georgia, staff at Coffee Correctional Facility donated book bags filled with supplies to the city's annual Back-to-School event.
In Leavenworth, Kansas, staff at Midwest Regional Reception Center collected and donated school supplies to the local school district.
In Raleigh, North Carolina, South Raleigh Reentry Center held a school supply drive and filled backpacks with supplies for each resident's child. The backpacks were handed out during a resident and family breakfast party.
In Nashville, Tennessee, staff from CoreCivic's headquarters helped pack bags full of supplies for the United Way Stuff the Bus campaign, helping 15,000 students in Middle Tennessee.
In Dilley, Texas, staff at Dilley Immigration Processing Center collected and donated school supplies to a local elementary school.
In Houston, Texas, staff from Houston Processing Center held a school supply giveaway and passed out backpacks filled with school supplies to local children.
In Taylor, Texas, staff from T. Don Hutto Detention Center collected school supplies for local students.
In Newport News, Virginia, staff at James River Residential Reentry Center partnered with a local church and Newport News Public Schools to donate 25 backpacks filled with school supplies for elementary students.
